Hastelloy forged fittings are engineered of a nickel-molybdenum alloy known to exhibit superior corrosion resistance in a variety of media. Composed primarily of nickel, between 17-22%, and molybdenum content higher than 50%, Hastelloy forged fittings also contain other elements that have an impact on their performance. Chromium is one of these additional elements (between 14-17%), and its addition further adds to the corrosion resistance characteristics of this alloy. These base components make it an ideal choice for many industrial environments where corrosion resistance is critical.
Hastelloy forged fittings are widely used in various industries due to their excellent properties, such as their low coefficient of thermal expansion, resistance to corrosion, and superior strength at high temperatures. They are highly popular for gas or liquid applications that must be resistant to harsh environments such as those containing chlorine, molybdenum, sulfuric acid and other sulfide contaminants. Hastelloy is also highly resistant to abrasion and erosion, making it ideal for protecting process equipment where these are a concern. Regarding welding characteristics, Hastelloy forged fittings match up well with all the common stainless steel alloys without needing pre-heating prior to welding. Due to these qualities and more, Hastelloy forged fittings have become one of the most reliable options when looking for precision components for challenging operations.
