Low Temperature Carbon Steel Forged Fittings

Carbon Steel forged fittings have particular standards that make them fit for this group. These CS Fittings must not have specific amounts of Cobalt, Nickel, Chromium, Titanium, Vanadium, Tungsten and zirconium. It must also have around 2.1% of carbon content against its total weight. Low-Carbon Steel or Plain Carbon Steels are commonly used for manufacturing forged fittings, owing to their lower costs. The Malleability and ductility of Low-carbon steels is high, due to the low-carbon content present in them. Low-carbon steels also have a relatively low tensile strength. But Carburization helps in increasing its surface hardness. Mild Carbon steel has two yield points, the first one being higher than the second. ASME B16.11 standards maintain the production quality of Socket-Weld. Whereas, ASME B1.20.1 maintain the production standards of Threaded Forged Fittings. Apart from these a variety of mechanical tests and quality control measures are carried out on CS forged fittings. Branch Piping systems, Altering pipe diameters, Changing pipe directions are some applications where forged fittings are used extensively.
