As the name suggests the Copper Nickel 70/30 Stud Bolts are manufactured from Copper and Nickel in 70 to 30 ratios along with other components like Iron and Manganese, in various strengths. Irrespective of the high Copper content these stud bolts are silver in colour. These stud bolts are highly resistant to corrosion in seawater; it is done by adjusting the electrode potential to be neutral with respect to the sea water.
The main feature of Copper Nickel 70/30 Stud Bolts is that they show excessive resistance towards corrosion and high thermal stability. They are mainly used in marine seawater applications. They have excellent resistance to stress corrosion, erosion and bio fouling in brackish water. They are predominately used in high velocity water and polluted water with high temperature and pressures combined with destructive turbulence.
These bolts normally undergo various testing procedures before it come into the market as they are expected to be used in high complex systems costing millions. They have to pass tests like chemical spectrum analysis, hardness test, pitting resistance test, eddy current test and radiography test.
