The alloy is annealed to harden it and increase its toughness. It is the most common kind of alloy in the market. The filler metal is resistant to stress cracking corrosion and pitting. The material has high strength and easy fabricability. The welding temperatures should be regulated within the range of 3000 C to avoid loss of ductility and embrittlement. The electrode can withstand exposure to chloride ion bearing environments.
Properties of Duplex stainless steel 2205 electrodes
Mechanical- The alloy has a tensile strength of 650MPa while the yield strength is 450MPa. The elongation capacity of the filler metal is around 30% in 50mm.
Chemical- The elements found in Duplex stainless steel 2205 electrodes include carbon, chromium, nitrogen, nickel, molybdenum, sulfur, phosphorus, manganese, and iron. The N, Mo, and Cr combination increase crevice and corrosion and chloride pitting.
