The electrode is both austenitic and ferritic. It has high resistance to corrosion. The filler metal has excellent strength even in moderate temperature environments. Welding should be done within the range of 3000 C and -500 C to avoid loss of strength and ductility. The material has a high nickel, chromium, and molybdenum content which lead to increased resistance to pitting, crevice, and stress cracking corrosion. The hardenability of the alloy is enhanced through cold working. The filler metal does not require preheating and post-welding before use. It is an all-position electrode which makes it easy to use.
Properties of Duplex Stainless Steel UNS S32205 Electrodes
Mechanical- The alloy has a density of 7.805g/cm3. The tensile strength of the electrode is 620MPa while the yield strength is 450MPa. It has an elongation capacity of 25% in 50mm.
Chemical- The filler metal contains carbon, silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, manganese, nickel, molybdenum, chromium, iron, and nitrogen. The percentages of Mo, Ni, and Cr are high to increase the corrosion resistance of the alloy.
