This is hydrochloric acid corrosion resistant electrode at all temperatures and concentrations. It also resists corrosion from other organic and inorganic acids. The filler metal can also withstand salt-bearing environments. The alloy is resistant to pitting and stress cracking corrosion when exposed to acidic conditions. It has high contents of nickel and molybdenum which enhance the quality of the rod. The alloy does not allow the formation of carbide precipitates around the welding zones. The electrode has a high shear strength which leads to high resistance of metal removal. Constant exposure of the wire to temperatures above 6000 C reduces ductility of the electrode.
Properties of Hastelloy B2 electrodes
Mechanical- The alloy has a high density of 9.2g/cm3. The tensile strength of the Hastelloy B2 electrode is 760MPa while the yield strength is 350MPa. It has an elongation capacity of up to 35% in 50mm.
Chemical- The chemical components of the alloy are carbon, chromium, copper, molybdenum, manganese, silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, iron, and nickel. Molybdenum and nickel enhance the corrosion resistance of the alloy.
