Alloy 20

The Alloy 20 Stud Bolts are also called carpenter 20 stud bolts  sometimes due to its mid range corrosion  resistance - that is they are better than steel alloy based bolts but lower compared to high performance nickel based alloy bolts. They would prove to be more cost effective in comparison to hastelloy at the same time giving better protection than stainless steel or super duplex stainless steel bolts. They use a combination of nickel, chromium, molybdenum and copper, which provides good corrosion resistance, in their composition.

They are specifically designed to withstand sulphuric acid at high temperature. They exhibit good resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting and crevice corrosion in sulphuric acid at higher temperatures in a 20% to 40% concentration. They also show commendable resistance in phosphoric acid and nitric acid. Most power plants rely on the alloy 20 stud bolts and other fasteners for flue gas desulfurization. They are used to connect heat exchangers, metal cleaning equipments and pickling tanks in mid range corrosive environments. Plastic and synthetic rubber manufacturers also use these stud bolts for their resistance properties and cost efficiency.
