ER 321 filler wire is a 19 per cent chromium 9 per cent nickel plus titanium wire used for TIG welding base metals of similar analysis. The titanium content reduces intergranular chromium carbide precipitation, thereby increasing resistance to intergranular corrosion. ER 321 Stainless Steel wire is used for applications in the temperature range of up to about 900 degrees Celcius, combining high strength, resistance to scaling, and phase stability with resistance to subsequent aqueous corrosion. Stainless steel ER321 welding wire exhibits oxidation resistance up to 1600 degrees F, is stabilized against weld heat affected zone (HAZ) intergranular corrosion and resists polythionic acid stress corrosion cracking.

Stainless steel ER321 filler wire is used where resistance to intergranular corrosion is required and where the parts are subjected to sustained heating or cooling within the range of 800 to 1500 degrees F. Welding 321 Stainless steel grade wire is commonly used in aircraft piston engine manifolds, exhaust stacks, expansion joints, thermal oxidizers, refinery equipment, and high-temperature chemical process equipment. SS ER 321 filler wires are widely used in engineering for the petrochemical, food industry, energy, etc.
