Stainless Steel 316 is a molybdenum containing austenitic stainless steel. Due to the presence of molybdenum in 316 pipes they provide better overall resistance properties. Grade 316 also has better weldability and post-weld annealing is not required. When compared to 304, 316 has higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.
Applications involving cryogenic temperature services are easily handled by 316 Pipes due to their excellent toughness. 316 excellently works in a range of atmospheric environments and other corrosive mediums, as well. It can be readily brake or roll formed for various applications in architecture, and transportation fields. UNS S31600 Pipes are also resistant to decent amounts of potable water at ambient temperatures. 316 is generally considered as “marine grade stainless steel”, though it is not resistant to war sea water. 316 Grade pipes find application in food processing equipment, laboratory equipment, costal a
