What are Forged Fittings?
Forged fittings are used to combine or connect pipes, pumps, valves, and other equipment to create piping systems with a diameter of less than 2 or 4 inches. There are principally two kinds of fashioned fittings called socket-welded fittings which are associated by filet welding to pipes and the second is threaded fittings where the pipe is threaded onto the fittings. It is made from solid steel blocks, which are machined within the tolerances set by the applicable specifications to obtain the final shape required. Forged joints are made by bolting two forged joints together with a gasket between them to give a seal.
Forged Fitting Materials
Carbon Steel ASTM A105 and Stainless Steel SS316 ASTM A182 are commonly available two materials of Forged pipe fittings. The coating of cast pipe fittings in carbon steel A105 can be further strengthened by galvanizing against corrosion.
